1.  ELIGIBILITY

a.  PHYSICAL LOCATION
Hollywood is widely known to be the International Mecca of the music industry.  US Music and Media Worldwide Competitions are open to ANYONE in ANY GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION, ALL OVER THE WORLD.
---  You are NOT required to attend the HOLLYWOOD ROCK CONVENTION OR THE HOLLYWOOD ROCKSTAR AWARDS to win a nomination or receive an award at the 2 respective events.  ----

b.  “SIGNED” STATUS
All artists/bands must, at the time of registration be unsigned, or only signed to independent (Indie) record labels which are not distributed by so-called “major” record labels (ie. Capitol, Interscope, Universal, et al),  and not subject to any exclusive recording or record distribution agreements. Bands signed to a so-called “major” record label are not eligible.  Void where prohibited.

2.  CONTEST SCHEDULES for our Inaugural Year
a. Spring Session begins April 23^rd and ends on or about July 25^th, 2008.

3. ENTRY GUIDELINES

a. MULTIPLE ENTRIES
Contestant may submit material to as many categories and genres as artist may wish, and each entry will require a separate entrance fee.

4. JUDGING

a. JUDGING CRITERIA
All music has artistic value, yet all music may not have potential for success in the commercial marketplace. You do not need to enter a contest to appreciate the artistic value of your own music.  In our contests, please be aware that judges will objectively evaluate melody, composition, lyrics and COMMERCIAL POTENTIAL.  Because judges are industry professionals, actively working in the business, who get first crack at signing and/or utilizing your talent as a unique and undiscovered artist, please consider any recommendations for improvement as simply ASSISTANCE in furthering a COMMERCIAL career, rather than criticism of your artistry.

b. JUDGING SCHEDULE
Judging schedules are dependent on volume of submissions, so please be patient once your submission has been entered.  Please allow at least 30 days from the end date of each Session to post nominees and winners on the website as results are reported, subject to judge availability.

c. JUDGES
Contestant understands and agrees that judges will usually judge up to the first 3 minutes of each song.  US MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE, at its sole discretion, will select and appoint judges according to expertise and knowledge of the assigned genre, ability to offer practical suggestions with respect to improving marketability of the music, and ability to recognize and directly lend assistance to undiscovered talent in furthering their music career.  It is not possible for us to allow you request a favorite judge!  All participating bands, artists, and individual band members agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the Judges’ decisions, which are final and binding in all respects.  Judges will verify each band’s eligibility and compliance with the entry requirements and qualifications as provided in these Official Rules.  US MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE reserves the right to rotate, replace or remove judges at any time without notice.

d. PERMISSION FOR PUBLIC JUDGING
Entry in any of our contests shall be deemed permission to use video or audio tape of actual judging of entry for any promotional or educational purposes.

5.  NOTIFICATION OF NOMINEES AND AWARD RECIPIENTS
The Hollywood Rock Convention and Hollywood Music Online are primarily volunteer-based systems.  We rely heavily on staffing by our generous sponsors, and your patience is appreciated.  Recipients will be posted on the HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COM website at www.HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.com, as results become available. 

6.  ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ORIGINAL WORK
Nominees and/or Award Recipients must be prepared, on request, to sign an Acknowledgement stating that the winning material is original work to which the winner holds all rights.  Failure to do so within 14 days of US MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE’s or HOLLYWOOD MUSIC ONLINE’S request could result in disqualification for any award (Tribute Band category is exempt for obvious reasons).

7.  CONTEST DESCRIPTIONS

a.  “Win an all expense paid trip to Hollywood to play the 2008 Hollywood Rock Convention – CONTEST 1:

“NO BAND TOO SMALL!”  This is our most popular contest.  Songs entered in this contest will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges, industry professionals, and HMO/MMW staff,  and the winners will be flown to Hollywood to perform at the 2008 Hollywood Rock Convention.  First prize winners of this contest will have their Airfare and Hotel Expenses paid for by Music and Media Worldwide/Hollywood Music Online.  The standard package will include 5 days and 4 nights at a hotel of our choosing from August 14^th-17^th.  This prize does NOT include travel expenses once the band arrives, food or beverage, or any other incidentals the artists may incur while in Hollywood.  Winners in this category will also be eligible to win the Hollywood Rockstar Award for Best Live Band.

Second prize in this contest is an invite to perform at the 2008 Hollywood Rock Convention and does not include airfare, hotel, or any other travel related expenses.  You do not have to be present at the Convention or the Awards Show to win an award. 

b. Contest 2: “The Hollywood Rockstar Awards!”  Songs entered in our judging categories will allow the lesser-known artist the fair and unbiased advantage of evaluation WITHOUT preference for popularity.  This is the competition where any artist with the one career-establishing song actually can receive an award that has the same stature as those given to our celebrity recipients.  This is where your music speaks for itself!

7. HOW TO ENTER
To enter our contest(s), follow the links for SUBMIT MUSIC starting at www.hollywoodmusiconline.com.    MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE strongly prefers electronic entries.  US MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE cannot be responsible for late arrivals of NON-electronic entrees from countries outside the Continental United States.  Any entries by mail must be sent to:  Music and Media Worldwide, 7095 Hollywood Blvd., Suite 331, Los Angles, CA 90028.  Please see GENERAL CONDITIONS below regarding problems with entry submissions.

8.  AWARDS SHOW ON AUGUST 17^th, 2008 
a. ATTENDANCE:  THIS EVENT WILL SELL OUT.  TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE 30-45 DAYS PRIOR TO MAIN EVENT.  If you are interested in attending this year’s event, please do your best to make reservations as early as possible. 

b. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE MAIN EVENT, PLEASE NOTE:

a)       The event will be webcast and taped for streaming.  Please monitor our website at www.hollywoodmusiconline.com for details forthcoming.
b)       Nominees and award recipients will be listed on the website at www.hollywoodmusiconline.com.
c)       The event will be taped and edited for later broadcast.  Broadcast information to be announced as details become available.

9. AWARDS
US MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE, selects hundreds of nominees and award recipients in various combinations of category and genre, in order to provide proper recognition of as many unique talents in as many unique specific genres as possible.  A nomination, award, or even honorable mention from the Music and Media Worldwide/Hollywood Music Online gives you a valuable promotional tool for your local market, as well as exposure in the Los Angeles market.  You are NOT required to attend the HOLLYWYOOD ROCK CONVENTION OR THE HOLLYWOOD ROCKSTAR AWARDS to win a nomination or an award.  Nominees and Award Recipients will be listed on our main website at www.hollywoodmusiconline.com

Entrants may submit as many songs in as many categories as artist may wish.  A separate entrance fee is charged for each separate entry.  Winning a nomination or an award in one category does NOT preclude an artist or song from winning a nomination or an award in another category. 

b.  DUPLICATE AWARDS AND UPGRADES
Duplicate NOMINEE CERTIFICATES can be pre-ordered at a cost of $25.00 per framed certificate (plus shipping).  Duplicate AWARDS will also be made available at prices to be determined.


10. CATEGORY AND GENRE SELECTION
We attempt to provide awards in the maximum amount of genres possible, for the purposes of proper recognition of your unique talent.  Some contests are genre specific and others are not.  Please refer to the website for a current and updated list of genres.  In order to offer you this maximum specificity of genre, as a practical matter, MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE may find it necessary, in the event of an insufficient number of entrees in any category or genre, to combine similar genres for the purposes of nominee selection.  The minimum number of entries and genre compatibility is determined solely at the discretion of MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE and can be adjusted at any time without notice. 

11.  RECORDING QUALITY
We do not require professional recordings, but they are preferable.  Please be aware that if you have distracting glitches and other issues which take away from the song, or instruments or vocals that can’t be heard, you may need to clean up the recording and resubmit the song to receive proper appreciation of your song. 

12.  GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION.
By submitting Entry Material(s), each artist and band member represents, warrants and agrees individually, and on behalf of the band as a whole that the artist and the band:

a.  Meet the eligibility requirements set forth in these Official Rules and that they have all necessary rights, licenses or permission to submit all Entry Materials;
b.  Grant HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE’s promotional affiliate(s) irrevocable worldwide rights, licenses and permissions necessary for broadcast of any photographic image or footage of artist, band or band members, submitted material, video or audio judging of submitted material, names, biographical material, likeness of logo, artist, band or band members, in print media, on website, television, or radio.
c.  Grant HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE permission to offer material submitted to visitors for downloading “digital audio distribution” and streaming “digital audio transmission” from any HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE’s promotional partners or affiliates websites; permission to use band’s recordings on HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE’s Sponsors compilation CD;
d.  Agree to adhere to general rules of decency and conduct;
e.  Will not hold HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE responsible for late, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, lost, garbled or misappropriated entries, faulty file uploads accompanying online entries, telephone, computer, hardware, software, programming or network malfunction or other technical failures or errors, or the failure to properly process entries, communication disruption or other forces beyond the reasonable control of HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE, including but not limited to disruption related to internet traffic, bug, virus, or non-authorized intervention, or damage caused by access to the website, whether human, mechanical or electronic.  If such malfunction, error, damage, or disruption occurs and impairs the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the contest, HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE may, in its sole discretion, modify, suspend, or terminate the contest by posting a notice on the website and select winners in a manner deemed fair and equitable by HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE.
f.  Understand and agrees that contestant owns the copyright for each work submitted, and material is contestant's original work (except, obviously, for tribute band competition or cover material). Songs may have multiple co-writers, but entry must designate one name only on submission application.
g. Understand and agrees that judges will be required to judge up to the first 3 minutes of each song, even if song exceeds three minutes in length  i.  Agree to allow all video or audio material submitted for judging in any HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COM contests to be heard and/or viewed in any public forum, including but not limited to public judging of entry for any promotional or educational purposes.
j.  Agree to the following cross-promotional participation in the event contestant achieves nomination or award recipient level in any HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMcontests:  Posting of cross-promotional click-through artwork as provided by HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMto be permanently posted on band website and myspace site, a minimum of 3 public appearances, 3 written, video or audio interviews, and 3 live performance appearances upon request of Hollywood Music Online.com / Music and Media Worldwide.
k.  Agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE, and promotional affiliates, their parents, promotional partners, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives, volunteers and agents from any and all liability for any claim, injury, loss, or damage of any kind to any person, including, without limitation, disability and death, any contractual, intellectual or other proprietary rights, and any damage or loss to property, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a prize or participation in any HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COMAND/OR MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE contest, or any related activity.
l.  Understand and agree that entry in MUSIC AND MEDIA WORLDWIDE or HOLLYWOODMUSICONLINE.COM contests are specifically not any assurance of any level of potential achievement in any contests. 
m.  Agree that entrance fees are non-refundable.
